Rapidian Article!

Hey all!

I know I haven't posted anything in about a week, but I'm back!  We're working on burning dvd's of the film for sponsors of the film, and getting them mailed out tomorrow.  So, if you were one of the sponsors, be looking in the mail next week!

In other news, Samantha Dine, a senior at GVSU, came to last week's screening of The ArtPrize Experience, and wrote a great review of my film for The Rapidian!  Here's the link, check it out, comment, and share it on FB & Twitter!

Also, we're planning on having the film available for purchase on the website very soon.  I don't have an exact date as of yet, but do stay tuned for an update.

In the next week or two we're going to start preliminary work on a new film project!  This should be quite fun, and I can't wait to share it with you all.  The project will be on a smaller scale than the ArtPrize film (I won't be downtown GR filming for two weeks straight), but I hope that it will be able to tell a very personal, powerful, and human story.  This will usher in another fundraising drive, so we're hoping sales of the dvd will help!

There will be more posts here soon, so like us on Facebook, or follow on Twitter to stay updated!

There's the link to the UThink Media page!  If you're on Facebook, please give the page a 'like,' and stay updated and connected with out film projects!

In other news, we have a BIG screening tonight at the Grand Rapids Film Festival @ 6PM!  I really hope that many of you are able to come, it should be a great screening.  We had some technical issues the first run..hopefully those will be remedied by a new dvd.  There will be at least two of the artists from the film there, they will be participating in the Q&A following the screening!

Again, here's a link to the film's page on the festival website--  http://bit.ly/oNAr0L

Hoping to get a lot more people down to this screening than the one on Wednesday, being Friday @ 6, so I hope to see you all down there!

Don't forget to check out the Facebook link!

'Official Selection'

Lots of things to post about Day 1 of the GR Film Fest, but it's going to have to wait till morning!

WZZM13 interview! Screening Day

Hey all!

If you were watching WZZM13 this morning, you may have seen my interview segment!!  Check out the link below in case you missed it.

WZZM13 Story on ArtPrize Documentary

I bolted out of bed at five this morning to see the story, definitely worth it!  They talked about the film, screen times, etc.  Overall great story, be sure to watch/read it on their website.  Thanks to Tara Kuhnlein and WZZM for the story!

In other news, today is the 'big' public reveal for the film!  At 4PM we'll be screening The ArtPrize Experience at the Grand Rapids Film Festival!  It's going to be in Theater 1, at the GR campus of Western Michigan University (see link for map).  Tickets are $5.

Picture of the WMU Downtown campus building, where the Grand Rapids Film Fest is being held this year.

I'm not quite sure what sort of turnout we'll be having for this screening, but I hope some of you come down, say hi, watch the movie, and have fun at a great festival!

I'll be heading down to the fest around 3:40...hope to see you there!

Last note.  If you aren't already, follow me on Twitter for more info on the film!

Grand Rapids Press Article!

Hey all!

We're less than a week away from the premier of 'The ArtPrize Experience' at the Grand Rapids Film Fest!! Again, the dates.  Wednesday, August 10 at 4PM & Friday, August 12 at 6PM.  I hope to see plenty of you at the screenings!  If you go to the Film Festival's website you can see more information about screening times, ticket info, and directions (WMU Grand Rapids Campus).

Also, some fun news.  John Serba at the GR Press included me in his article about this year's GR Film Fest! The photo in the article is of David Huang working on a small copper vessel (credit to my brother Jacob!).  Here's the link to the article:

As an attempt to stir up excitement, here's the 9min 'ArtPrize Effect' that I made earlier this year (hopefully this will serve as a trailer!).

That's all for now, hope to see you at one of the screenings!

ArtPrize Screening Session, GR Film Fest Update

I just got back from screening my film for the folks at ArtPrize!!  Just about everyone on the ArtPrize team was there...pretty neat.  Since the beginning of the production I've been thinking of how cool it would be to actually show 'them' my film...and now I've done it!

Phew!

Despite some freak tech glitches (we had to try three times to get the film to start), I think it went really well. Everyone had great feedback...and a bit of surprise that this was a sub-thousand dollar budget film.  Also, I made some very nice connections...so we may be getting a bit more press on this!

Thanks to all the folks at ArtPrize for sitting through my film, I hope you enjoyed it.

In other news, we have a date/time for screening at the Grand Rapids Film Festival!  The ArtPrize Experience will be screened on August 10th, at 4PM in Theater 1.  The 'better' time to go see it, though, will be August 12th, at 6PM in theater 2.  If everyone could try to come for the 6PM screening on the 12th, I would be so so so so happy!  Here's a link to the festival schedule page, and a link to a map of the WMU downtown location.

This will be a fast moving two weeks ahead of us!  There's an article in the GR Press that I may be in (whoohoo!), so keep an eye out for that.

Again, I hope that everyone around GR that's been following this film will be able to come to see this film.  There will be a Q&A after each film...so bring your questions!  (I don't want to be sitting up there in complete silence!)

Lastly, I will be putting out a trailer of the film this week, so be sure to check back for that.
